Lingual train tracks are custom made
Lingual braces of the type that Dr Buckley uses Win™ and Incognito™ are custom made. The brackets and wires are custom made. This ensures that the appliance fits the inside of the teeth very precisely , and consequently allows Dr Buckley to move the teeth very accurately into the desired position. Because they are custom made the profile of the brackets can be kept very low and this minimises the inconvenience of wearing the appliance and makes it easier to clean.
Lingual braces won’t leave permanent white marks on the outside of the teeth
If patients maintain good oral hygiene and reduce the frequency of their sugar intake during orthodontic treatment then damage ( white marks, decalcification , decay) Is not a problem whether one wears outside or inside braces. However if the oral hygiene instructions are not followed , and some white marks occur on the teeth, with lingual braces they cannot be seen.
Lingual braces allow you to see the progress of the treatment even though it’s not finished
With these inside braces the improvement in the appearance of the teeth is obvious at it occurs. This particularly suits patients when they need the teeth to look better even though the treatment is not finished. Dr Buckley has practised as a specialist orthodontist in Clonmel for 20 years. In addition to his orthodontic qualifications which he held before he commenced orthodontic practice , Dr Buckley was awarded a First class masters degree in Lingual orthodontics from the University of Hannover medical school (MHH) in 2012. This masters degree is directed by Professor Dirk Wiechmann who is the inventor of both the incognito™ and win™ lingual appliances. Dr Buckley was the first orthodontist in Ireland to be awarded this qualification. In 2016 he was accepted as an active member of the European Society Of Lingual Orthodontics (ESLO). To become an active member it is necessary for candidates to submit the records of finished lingual cases. If the cases are deemed to be of a sufficiently high standard then the candidate is accepted as an active member of ESLO. Dr Buckley is the first orthodontist in Ireland to be accepted as an active member of ESLO.
