This is the first in a series of three blogs relating to absent lateral incisors.

Lateral incisors are quite commonly absent. In  approximately 1.5 -2 % of people at least one lateral incisor never develops.

  Normally in these situations when the canine (tooth 3 ) erupts it is already partly in the space where the lateral incisor (tooth  2 )  should be.
